Meet Heather, the Heart Behind Wholesome Box

Hi! I’m Heather, a local mom here in Dickson, and I wanted to share a little of the story behind Wholesome Box.

Caring for the Earth well and feeding my children food I can feel good about matters deeply to me.

Over the past year, I found myself becoming more intentional about what I was bringing into my own kitchen. As a mom of five, I know how hard it can be to feed a family well while managing all the demands of home, children, schedules, and work. I wanted better produce for my own children — real food, grown in healthy soil, without herbicides, and with care — but I also knew I could not grow everything myself.

And I had a feeling I wasn’t the only one.

I knew there were other families who wanted real, high-quality, thoughtfully grown food on their tables, but did not always have the time, land, energy, or connections to source it themselves.

When I found Amish farming families growing produce in a way that felt so aligned with those values, I knew I wanted to help bring that harvest to our community.

That is where Wholesome Box began.

During the growing season, I travel to the farms each week to hand-select what is freshest and most abundant. Often, the produce comes in from the fields the very same day customers receive their boxes.

That freshness is one of the first things customers notice. The produce feels different — brighter, fuller, more flavorful, and with a kind of energy that is hard to describe until you experience it.

But one of the sweetest surprises of Wholesome Box has been the community forming around it.

Some of my favorite moments from last season happened at pickup: developing relationships with customers, hearing how families were using their produce, watching people swap ideas, share excitement, and connect with one another.

That is part of what I hope Wholesome Box continues to become — not just a way to bring home fresh produce, but a small gathering point for people who care about real food, seasonal eating, and supporting small farms.

If you value cleaner, better-quality food, thoughtful sourcing, and small-scale sustainable agriculture, Wholesome Box just might be for you, too!

Thank you for being here and for supporting this little local food dream. 🌿
